Members of the Mock Newbery Book Club cast their ballots this week. The winner of the 2012 FES Mock Newbery Award will be announced at a 4th and 5th grade assembly on Friday, January 13th.

In the meantime, students and teachers at FES have been having a great time trying to predict which book will win the Newbery Medal. The winner of the actual Newbery Medal will be announced live on January 23, 2012 from Dallas, Texas.

The Short List...

Members of the FES Mock Newbery Book Club have been busy reading titles from the three reading lists. Students recently nominated their favorite titles for the short list.

It was a tough choice for many students because there were 25 excellent titles on the lists this year.

Readers used the Newbery criteria to evaluate the books and looked for books that were distinguished.
